THE STORY

We are Helen and Fiona, two friends who love a good walk and decided to tick the Tour du Mont Blanc off our bucket lists. In August 2026, we will spend 12(ish!) days following the 170 kilometre circular route through France, Italy and Switzerland, that will take us round one of the most famous mountains in the world. We will carry everything we need on our backs, including our accommodation – no luxury chalets for us! – and the all important snacks.

Having ticked off, amongst others, long sections of the South West Coast Path we decided it was time for a longer walk and the TMB felt like the right kind of challenge – hard enough to matter and beautiful enough to be worth it.

We leave on 4 August. We will try to avoid blisters. We are looking forward to it enormously.

Why Hospiscare

We decided that if we were going to do the TMB, we wanted to make it count. We’re raising money for Hospiscare, the charity that provides free and specialised nursing to the terminally ill in Exeter, Mid and East Devon. It looks after more than 700 patients at any one time, supporting patients in their own homes and in its hospice.

Hospiscare relies on donations to keep going. The NHS funds around 20% of what they do. The rest comes from people like you. Everything raised through this walk goes directly to them.
